A college student's
drug overdose at
San Diego State University has led police to a giant
drug bust on campus.
Dozens of students were busted with stashes of drugs, guns and money. A total of 96 people were arrested, most of them San Diego State students.
The police investigation was prompted by the death of a freshman student
coed who suffered from a cocaine overdose about a year ago. Included in the items found by police: two kilograms of
cocaine, 350
ecstasy pills, pounds of
marijuana, prescription drugs, $60K worth of cash and a bunch of guns.
Police believe that they have the majority of the
drug ring participants in custody. But, they speculate that those people could be a part of a much larger organization so there could be more arrests. There is also a possibility that the drug ring has expanded to include other
college campuses.
