Questions are being raised by the Los Angeles Times regarding the disability payments presidential hopeful John McCain receives.  McCain receives a disability pension because of injuries suffered while a prisoner of war in Vietnam.

The L.A. Times reports that McCain receives close to $50,000 in disability pension each year.  He was shot down, captured & tortured for close to five years in a
Hanoi
prison camp. If he is disabled, the Times says he couldn't possibly be president of the United States.

Supporters of McCain's pension say that Franklin D. Roosevelt was also disabled.  They point out that the L.A. Times is wrong in claiming that the Republican candidate shouldn't get the benefit because he was able to hike the Grand Canyon.  And what medical qualifications does the L.A. Times have any way?

Critics of McCain's disability pension seem few and far between.
